Ingredients

Patty Melts

  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 8 slices Rye Bread
  • 4 slices Swiss Cheese
  • 1 large Onion sliced
  • 2 tablespoon Butter
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper

Special Sauce

  • ½ cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoon Ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Pickle Relish
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce

Instructions

  1. 1. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  2. 2. In the same skillet, form ground beef into 4 patties. Season with salt and pepper. Cook patties until browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove from skillet.
  3. 3. In a mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, pickle relish, and Worcestershire sauce to make the special sauce. Set aside.
  4. 4. Assemble the patty melts: Spread special sauce on each slice of rye bread. Place a patty on 4 slices of bread, top with caramelized onions and a slice of Swiss cheese. Top with remaining bread slices.
  5. 5. In the skillet, cook the assembled sandwiches until the bread is toasted and the cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes per side.
