Patty Melts
- 1 lb Ground Beef
- 8 slices Rye Bread
- 4 slices Swiss Cheese
- 1 large Onion sliced
- 2 tablespoon Butter
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
Special Sauce
- ½ cup Mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoon Ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Pickle Relish
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
1. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
2. In the same skillet, form ground beef into 4 patties. Season with salt and pepper. Cook patties until browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove from skillet.
3. In a mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, pickle relish, and Worcestershire sauce to make the special sauce. Set aside.
4. Assemble the patty melts: Spread special sauce on each slice of rye bread. Place a patty on 4 slices of bread, top with caramelized onions and a slice of Swiss cheese. Top with remaining bread slices.
5. In the skillet, cook the assembled sandwiches until the bread is toasted and the cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes per side.
