Ingredients 

Dough

  • 2 cups masa harina
  • 1.5 cups warm water

Filling

  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 cup refried beans

Instructions 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine masa harina and warm water. Mix until a dough forms.
  2. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll into balls.
  3. Flatten each ball into a disc, place a spoonful of filling in the center, and fold the edges over to enclose the filling.
  4. Flatten the filled dough gently to form a thick disc.
  5. Heat a griddle or skillet over medium heat. Cook each pupusa for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
