Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup Dried split peas rinsed
  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 cups Vegetable broth
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 medium Carrots chopped
  • 2 stalks Celery chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Salt to taste
  • ½ teaspoon Black pepper to taste

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a large pot, heat a bit of oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until softened.
  2. 2. Add the carrots and celery, and cook for a few more minutes.
  3. 3. Add the dried split peas, vegetable broth, and water. Bring to a boil.
  4. 4. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for about an hour, or until the peas are tender.
  5. 5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.
